TEMPORARY LANDFILL CAPPING MEMBRANES

Due to modern day environmental regulation combined with the need for modern day Landfill Operators to reduce the cost of leachate treatment and very importantly, improve their gas extraction efficiency with the generation of green energy in mind, it is now seen as a standard requirement to deploy Temporary Caps on areas of landfill which will be ‘open’ for a number of years prior to the next layer of waste being deposited or final restoration.
Traditionally, inert cover was used within Temporary Capping applications however inert cover consumes valuable void space, is expensive to deploy, cannot be reused and requires frequent remediation work to maintain a basic level of gas and surface water control; the modern day method is for our Geo Multi-Covers to be used in Temporary Capping applications.

Valuable void space is saved compared to using inert cover, and even when compared with traditional HDPE / LLDPE membranes, Geo Multi-Covers are undoubtedly the most cost effective Temporary Capping option due to their high strength to low weight ratio facilitating our ability to provide durable and fit for purpose membranes in large, yet practical, pre-welded panels.
These large, pre-welded panels allow large areas to be covered very quickly, reducing the amount of on site welding required, and therefore reducing the time spent on site by highly trained installation teams which significantly reduces the overall cost of the works.
Our pre-welded panels can also be stitched together which is a significantly more cost effective option than welding panels on site. Further details are available upon request.
With the range of Geo Multi-Covers we provide, ranging in strength and UV resistance from 3 years to 5 years, we can provide a solution to both short term and longer term Temporary Capping applications.
Uniquely, or Geo Multi-Covers can also be reused once the ‘covered’ area is ready for the next layer of waste inputs or final restoration is serviced; the membrane is simply cut around the anchor trenched edge and then cut into manageable sections and then reused as an intermediate cover or even as a daily cover. This provides unquestionable value for money which simply cannot be achieved from inert materials or traditional HDPE / LLDPE membranes.
